 - I am a Melbourne/Naarm based ceramic artist with a background in Fine Art (Gold & Silversmithing), Industrial Design and Multimedia. I’m a self-taught ceramicist. I predominately slip cast mid-fired functional and non-functional vessels that pay homage to traditional ceramics.
The bio-morphic objects I create are initially carved from disposable materials such as foam and cardboard, then translated into ceramic. Something is gained in this translation; somehow more than the evidence of my process, such as the hope and joy that difference can offer.- My process highlights the texture of the foam and cardboard and often exaggerates imperfection. I am attracted to flaws and vulnerabilities. The objects have an unusual beauty — what I imagine to be some sort of living organism from a planet far away. - I acknowledge the tradional owners Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the unceded land and waters where I live and work and pay my deepest respect to Elders past, present and emerging. It's a privilege to walk this land together.
